After publishing histories of our parents, we wanted to share all the information we had gathered onto our computer in an easy, inexpensive way. Sharing via CD seemed the perfect answer. We found that just putting our files on CD wasn't the complete answer. We wanted them to be organized, labeled well, be ready at their fingertips. We wanted a presentation. Our son Jefferson joined the project. He created the missing features and soon we had a treasure ready to distribute. Finding that others wanted to do the same thing, we all decided to form a company and make a software product that was easy to use which created professional quality presentation CD's. Hence, "The Jefferson Project" was born, makers of Family History CD. Jon, Loretta and Jefferson invite you to look further into this software package designed for the average computer user.
We're three people from Utah, USA who got involved in a family history project. After the histories, pictures, and other information were collected, we tried to find the best way to share it with other members of the family. We ended up creating a multimedia, interactive CD-ROM that we sent to our relatives. Having some computer expertise among us, we blazed our own trail and made it "from scratch." Word got around, and people wanted to know more. The purpose of this web site is to share what we did on this project and to give advice and tips on your own family history projects. We explain some of the benefits of putting histories on CD and show what you need to do to use your computer as a family history tool. A portion of this web site is the home site of Family History CD, a software product that Jefferson developed to help you easily create your own CD-ROM. So make yourself at home and have a look around! See if the information here can help you, and e-mail us with any comments or suggestions! |
