After publishing histories of our parents, we wanted to share all the information we had gathered onto our computer in an easy, inexpensive way. Sharing via CD seemed the perfect answer. We found that just putting our files on CD wasn't the complete answer. We wanted them to be organized, labeled well, be ready at their fingertips. We wanted a presentation. Our son Jefferson joined the project. He created the missing features and soon we had a treasure ready to distribute. Finding that others wanted to do the same thing, we all decided to form a company and make a software product that was easy to use which created professional quality presentation CD's. Hence, "The Jefferson Project" was born, makers of Family History CD. Jon, Loretta and Jefferson invite you to look further into this software package designed for the average computer user.

Hi, I'm Loretta.
I'm a mother of seven wonderful children who range in age from 11 to 26 years old and the grandmother of four very sweet grandchildren.

I have found that in between planning two weddings and the rigors of daily living, a nice way to spend my free moments has been in helping our parents write down their life stories. I'll forever treasure the time we've spent together bringing their story to life. It is now preserved digitally for unborn generations to come.

Hello, I'm Jon.
Thank you for coming to our web site. I hope it will be of service to you. After doing a couple of family history projects at our house, I am sold on this idea. I am a computer programmer by trade. I have been writing and maintaining mortgage banking software for over 15 years.

As for the Family History CD software, this little business is a dream come true. Being able to provide a service that so many people want is exciting. I want it. If we never sold another copy, I would be so glad to have it for myself. I am working on getting my slides scanned that have just been sitting in boxes and put together a CD. Something I didn't know how to do until now.

Hi! I'm Jefferson, the son of Jon and Loretta. I'm the guy who did most of the programming work on the Family History CD software and I also did a good share of the design and graphics work on this web site.

If you have any comments about the web site, or questions or suggestions about the new software I'm making (look under "cd software" from the main menu) then send me an e-mail! I'd love to hear from you.

Hello, I'm Bonnie, daughter of Jon and Loretta.
I am the office manager for The Jefferson Project.  I do the work no one else wants to do, shipping, accounting, record-keeping, and other miscellaneous things.  I am attending Weber State University where I am working toward a degree in Business Technology.

If you have questions or comments concerning shipping or payments, contact me!

We're three people from Utah, USA who got involved in a family history project. After the histories, pictures, and other information were collected, we tried to find the best way to share it with other members of the family.

We ended up creating a multimedia, interactive CD-ROM that we sent to our relatives. Having some computer expertise among us, we blazed our own trail and made it "from scratch." Word got around, and people wanted to know more.

The purpose of this web site is to share what we did on this project and to give advice and tips on your own family history projects. We explain some of the benefits of putting histories on CD and show what you need to do to use your computer as a family history tool.

A portion of this web site is the home site of Family History CD, a software product that Jefferson developed to help you easily create your own CD-ROM.

So make yourself at home and have a look around! See if the information here can help you, and e-mail us with any comments or suggestions!
